Day 36- Tell me again why we have a phone?

Ok, this is another addition of Things That Annoy Me. I hate it when I get phone calls from charities made by paid solicitors. Basically, they are asking me to pay their salaries so that they can continue calling people. I mean, if I could afford to make huge donations to all of these phone charities, that would be one thing. But the amount I can actually send them would be enough to pay for about three hours of the paid solicitor's work time. Why in the universe, if this is such a worthy charity, can they not find people willing to donate their time to call people? Then the money I send them could actually go to the charity rather than into the pockets of the people doing the calling. When I hear the words "I am a paid solicitor calling on behalf of (thus-and-such) charity," I hang up. I would rather give my money to my church charities than send it into the bureaucracy of some national charity that requires paid solicitors. That really annoys me.
