Actually, I've decided to use this change of decade as an excuse to try a few more changes. I have never been one to wear make-up, except when I'm on stage, but, in honor of the big 3-0, I have purchased a variety of new things. I've never owned an eye pencil before! And what is this about plucking eyebrows? Do people really do that? In fact, I am such a novice at the whole make-up thing that I actually bought a book to tell me how to do it. It's called, get this, Making Faces. It's actually filled with some really lovely pictures and interesting ideas.
I've also done something that is shocking, even appalling to some. I have, *gasp*, cut my hair. Not just a trim, either. I cut off over 10 inches, AND got layers put in it. Whoa.
So, presenting the new, grown up, 30-year-old me:
Sorry it's a bit blurry. New me needs new camera.
Oh, and take a gander to your right------> for some new pictures of my little Jady Lady. She's soo cute!!!

Girl, you are lookin' FINE. You always have been gorgeous, though. I know, let's get all made up, leave the babies at home with "they daddies" and go drinking and carousing in Armory Square. Or not. OK, well let's have a pajama party and paint each other's toenails. Am I freaking you out yet? You know, you have to get used to this girly girl stuff now that you have a very girly girl on your hands.
ah hah! You go girl! Now, if you actually took 10 inches off, your hair was VERY long, because I just took four inches off my hair, and it is MUCH shorter than yours! What make-up did you end up buying? Please tell me mineral!!! It is SOOO much better for the skin! You look fab though girly! And, 30 is actually easy. Now you are actually old enough to have four kids. That's how I felt! Gray was born just after I turned 30, and I felt good to have five kids at this age. Not so young that people really look at you funny. :)
Aww, thanks for the nice comments, girls. Yes, Becky, I bought mineral stuff. And yes, my hair was pretty long, down to my butt, in fact. It's funny you mention the age with kids thing, because that's exactly how I'm feeling now. Like, ok, I'm allowed to have all these kids now. People can stop giving me that shocked/appalled look when I tell them how old I am! Oh, and Laura, I would love to take you up on any girly night you have in mind. In fact, I still have Jocelyn's lamb, and I'm thinking I may hold it for ransom until you and I get to see each other again! ;)
Well...you started your life as a beautiful bouncing baby girl. You went through school, and hit all the awkward stages of pre-puberty, puberty, post-puberty, and managed to be drop dead gorgeous through it all. You coulda been a movie star! So, what's the big deal? Now you're a drop dead gorgeous grown up, and I'm crazy about ya!
Some things never change...

You look *fantastic*, Jess. I am very impressed. You were way cool au naturale/hippy-esque and you are way cool as a glam girl. If you need any tips on how to apply way too much foundation so that you get to work and go eww when you check the mirror or on how to buy thousands of lipsticks just a *teeny* bit off in shade, let me know. In the meantime, thank God you're now back w/the princessy thing you excelled at as an itty bitty girl.
Well if you think turning 30 is hard ...try having your baby turn 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You look beautiful baby!!!! Give my JadeD a big kiss for me..I miss her sweet smell!!!! Love, mom
I feel so loved! *sniff*
