You go girl

What does it mean to be a woman?
What does it mean to be a feminist?
Does it mean you must be pro-choice, pro-gay, pro-change, pro-hillary?
Does it mean you must believe in abandoning your family values for the sake of "making it" in the corporate world?
Does it mean you must give up your enjoyment of nice dresses, fancy shoes, make-up, etc?
Does it mean you have to hate men, control men, ignore men, and then try to be a man?
Does it mean you can't care more about your child than you do about yourself?

No.

I am a feminist.
I have always been a feminist.
I am also a stay-at-home homeschooling mother of four.
I am staunchly pro-life.
I am a conservative born-again Christian.

And I believe in the power of a woman.
I believe a woman can have everything she wants in life.
She can be strong and compassionate.
She can be bold and humble.
She can be deeply committed to her family and work outside the home if she desires.
She can also be deeply devoted to a woman's ability to be anything she wants, and still choose to be a stay-at-home mom.
And, yes, she can be passionate, powerful, and intelligent, and also be beautiful.
A woman can have it all.

I do not vote for my politicians based on whether they will pad my wallet, or their electability, or their popularity, or their age, or their appearance.
I am a moral issues voter.
I always have been, and I always will be.
I vote for my pro-life brothers and sisters, regardless of whether they stand a chance or not.
They are my family. I will entrust my country into the hands of those who I believe have a moral compass pointing north to Jesus Christ.
I will never trust the judgment of an individual who believes it's ok to murder babies.
I vote Pro-life.
I will vote for Sarah Palin this November.
I will vote for Sarah Palin when she runs for re-election in 2012.
And I will vote for Sarah Palin when she runs for president in 2016.

Go Women.
Go God.

Jess, you're not living in reality. This woman isn't going to succeed because of this - she's going to get ignored. Either by the guy she gets elected with or the population generally. You're not listening to what I'm saying. I'm not any of the liberal things you mentioned and I am all the conservative things you mentioned but I also am a realist and I promise you: these men didn't choose her because she's so strong and capable. They could have chosen a bunch of other Republican women who have proven their strength and wisdom over and over again. You'll see, Jess. Don't take my word for it - watch for yourself. I studied political history for four years. This particular woman will not fare well.

And by the way, I'd avoid the usage of the term "girl" here. People will harp on her for her youth too.

And one last thing: JOHN MCCAIN IS NOT PRO-LIFE. He has a long history of being staunchly pro-choice, Jess, and HE is the head you're voting for, NOT this woman!! You need to understand that! He's freaking in favor of stem cell research for God's sake!! Vote republican for many reasons, but this time IT'S NOT FOR THAT REASON! IT JUST DOESN'T WORK THIS TIME, DANGIT!! That's also probably my biggest frustration with this ticket, and Dobson and Colson and many others agree. Evangelicals got screwed this time, and that's all there is to it.

Ok, I'll bite. Give me the name of the evangelical pro-life conservative woman he should have picked.

I also find it interesting that, when they don't choose someone who shares our beliefs, they're ignoring us, but when they do, they're choosing them for "the wrong reasons." Some people are never happy.

AND I really don't give a hoot what those "people" "harp on her" about. They harp on christians in every way they can. We are the most hated attacked demographic in the U.S., at least by the media. Their favorite thing is to find some meaningless detail about our lives, say, for instance, a beauty pageant we once won, and turn that into the focus of myriad attacks. Focus on our beliefs, our accomplishments, our moral fiber? no, focus on our age and our looks. Wiley Satan.

Sigh. Jess, I'm attacking McCain and the party officials who chose to put her up, if anything, not her. I'm sure she's lovely. But the party officials should have thought about HUCKABEE, dangit. We don't even know for sure this woman is a born-again truly God-loving Christian yet, do we? And yes, there are plenty of Christian women who are more senior than this one in the Republican party, but not nearly as open to Big Oil Interests and, frankly, not nearly as physically attractive. These are cynical folks who made this decision, and yes, this made a difference, and that is what annoys me, in part. Also, she has NO EXPERIENCE, dangit. She has spent most of her "political life" as the mayor of a podunk town of 5000 people. That ain't going to go over well over all. Seriously, don't you have any misgivings whatsoever about this choice?

I'm actually considering taking a long vacation to a remote island somewhere. Anybody up for joining me? Swiss family Robinson, here I come! :)
